I am an alteration of what I once was
I am an alteration of what I once was
I am an alteration of what I once was
I am an alteration of what?

Been thinking about cutting out twenty years of writing
Believe me, I'll leave me without second thought
And I have been scratching from inside this wall of skin
So believe me when I say I've emptied the sun
Been hurting inside my caved spine where the hell-joints meet
They've twisted the nails deep inside of my lungs
And I have been jumping in sleep when a thought comes and haunts me
So believe me when I say I've swallowed the sun
The neurons went and fought a cool war and lost, it's true, we're dead
So go on and pick your feet up and never give us a thought, I'm dead
Just listen to the center and hear the steps yourself
And then calm the nerves that threaten all the living cells
You know, you've gotta pick your feet up and never give us a thought, I'm dead

It's Alright

It's all trapped down inside, it's all hidden down inside
No one is right, and I'm always so frightened
Will anybody ever seem free?
I wish that I could open out and bridge our heartstrings
Can somebody come on and break me?
I just want to have somebody here
It's all boiling inside and I am screaming inside
Who would I write, and who would write to me?
Can anybody ever find me?
I want to open up and talk, if I would let me
Can somebody come on and break me?
I wish that I weren't so ashamed
Does anybody ever see me?
It feels as though I'm never here, no one can hear me
Can somebody come on and love me?
I really need the right heart to say:
It's alright...

It's slow here without the wind downtown
The push has gone that hounds my side
It's quiet too, bless me this shrine
That the moments that you treasure aren't set aside
What's lost is here, it's charged it feels
I can't settle, I can't rest
I can't settle, I can't rest
I did settle in a raven's nest

Winter (Rebirth)

A year to go for another count and ring the new one in without
A pair to glimpse, a hold to head, no, another headcold, frayed eclipse
I’d throw me out
Into the cold where they sell warmth and offer us new chandeliers
And chimney tops can’t hold the weight of my old burdens, gone to sleep
No, you’ll be nothing… nothing!
Let in the pierce of night’s cold flow
And tease the rain, but not when it’s slowed
Dampen your shoes with sorrow’s hearth
I’ll tease the lights, for they won’t rebirth
A tampered note pinned to the sleeves detailing all of our precious things
We set ablaze its borrowed eyes and watch it thunder towards the skies
That note is me
When days and weeks and months go by, when all but me is new again
This heart of bread will tear apart its only thread it’s left to art
Say hello in spring
Let in the pierce of night’s cold flow
And please the rain, only when it’s slowed
Dampen your shoes with sorrow’s hearth
And I’ll tease the lights, for they won’t rebirth
Now hear the pounding on the pans to equal what each finds in bed
And at the drop, each kiss will sleep with others they know, love, and keep
I’ll walk for miles
Until the legs can’t hold the rest and with the cage, come trembling down
Onto the knees with nerves stripped dull and lips cut dry and empty-souled
I love my life…
Let in the pierce of night’s cold flow
We’ll please the rain only when it’s slowed
Lower your brow in sorrow’s hearth
I’ll tease the lights, for they won’t leave Earth
Let in the pierce of night’s cold flow
And tease the rain, but not when it’s slowed
Dampen your shoes with sorrow’s hearth
And I’ll tease the lights, for they won’t rebirth

Here we are, on this rock called home
When we stand our existence precedes our essence
And so the nights grow long and wander to the edge of sights
We've found that there will be nothing unless we recognize it otherwise
So we search for the coming of the starlight
And we're eating up the atmospheric colors
And in the heat of finding what we need, our minds turn to borrowed eyes
And so the search begins again for what we need done before we die
But I want to live lovely (I want to live lovely)
I want to live lovely so you'll see my bright eyes
I want to live lovely (I want to live lovely)
Yeah, the way that your heart beats' the way to find your life
Hey, go find what we're looking for
I've seen how bears are secretly trying to take back the Earth
We all are born with these holes
I've seen how bears have found a way to live with gaping wounds in their souls
I want to live lovely (I want to live lovely)
I want to live lovely so you'll see my bright eyes
I want to live lovely (I want to live lovely)
Yeah, the way that your heart beats' the way to find your life
I want to live lovely (I want to live lovely)
I want to live lovely so you'll see my bright eyes
I'm going to live lovely (I'm going to live lovely)
Yeah, the way that your heart beats' the way you'll find your life

So you can't hold a star in your hand, though
At least you can hold on to another plan
Rusted wheel planted still
I can tell it's summer from the
Size of the bugs that fly through my window
Flying through my window
Rusted wheel planted still
Rusted wheel can't move on
And it feels just like the ground
But trapped in another way
Just still in the ground
And it feels just like the ground
And trapped in another way
Just still in the ground
I can tell it's winter from the
Size of the lump in my throat
Got a lump in my throat
Rusted wheel planted still
Rusted wheel can't move on
And it feels just like the ground
But trapped in another way
Just still in the ground
And it feels just like the ground
And trapped in another way
Just still in the ground
Rusted wheel planted still
Rusted wheel can't move on
Rusted wheel planted still
Rusted wheel can't move on
